Senior Director and head of the firm's New York office, J-Michael Roberts is a forensic examiner and expert witness with deep experience in digital forensics, incident response, and malware analysis — leading investigations spanning state-sponsored breaches, insider-trading matters, and complex cybercrime in U.S. District Court and international arbitration. A Certified Computer Examiner (ISFCE, 2008) and GIAC Reverse-Engineering Malware analyst (SANS, 2016), he served as Vice President of Incident Response at Stroz Friedberg from 2011 to 2018 and created the VirusShare malware repository. He has testified in matters including United States v. Klyushin in the District of Massachusetts.

He serves as an arbitrator and forensic neutral at JAMS, sits as an e-discovery Special Master, is a Fellow of the Academy of Court Appointed Neutrals, and is adjunct faculty at Harvard Extension School. Dr. Ward Doran holds a Ph.D. in human development and social policy and a J.D., cum laude, both from Northwestern, and clerked for Judge Rosemary Barkett of the Eleventh Circuit and Judge Kim Wardlaw of the Ninth Circuit. He spent 2012 to 2025 at the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission — in the FCPA Unit and the Cyber Unit, as head of its Dark Web Working Group, and at FinHub — after serving as a trial attorney in the Department of Justice's Antitrust Division. He received the SEC Chair's Award for Investor Protection in 2024, and advises on regulatory enforcement, securities and digital-asset litigation, and blockchain attribution.
